The United Disabled Persons of Kenya (UDPK) is the umbrella organization of persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in Kenya. It is non-political &non- Partisan Civil Society Organization bringing together Disabled People Organizations representing all categories of disabilities.
UDPK exists to promote equal access to opportunities & active participation of persons with disabilities mainstream development processes. This is pursued through participation in policy planning and review, capacity building, advocacy and resources mobilization.
We believe that the position of disabilities people in Kenyan society is a Human and Civil rights issue and that society must be changed to allow our full inclusion from the rest of the population.
The Fraternity of Persons with Disabilities wishes to petition organs of constitutional review under the Constitution of Kenya Review Act of 2008 in relation to the proposals which the Parliamentary Select Committee on the Constitution (PSC) made regarding persons with disabilities.
The effect of PSC’s proposals negates key gains which had been encapsulated in the Revised Harmonised Draft Constitution.
